It is a commenly heald belief that the Fireplace is the heart of the home. As a stone mason I could not agree more... or at least it should be. Too often the fireplace is designed as an afterthought and I take a great deal of pleasure in converting a dead poorly designed hole in the wall into the strongest point of gravity in the home (with the likely exception of the kitchen). Quality stonework brings the Great into the great room.
